Another Successful Weekend in the Hills at Slieve Aughty Centre

On September 28th and 29th, 2024, the Slieve Aughty Centre hosted another memorable Weekend in the Hills, bringing together crafters, nature lovers, and curious learners for two days of hands-on traditional skills workshops.

With a huge selection of courses on offer, including some specially designed for children, participants immersed themselves in crafts like stone carving, drum making, basketry, silversmithing and more. The weekend wasn’t just about learning new skills; it was also about forming new friendships.

Saturday kicked off with a welcoming introduction, followed by full-day courses from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a wholesome, organic lunch at 1 p.m. As evening descended, participants gathered around the campfire, sharing stories, songs, and a deep sense of community.

This weekend’s success wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our tutors, volunteers, and attendees. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and contributed, making it an unforgettable experience.

For those who missed it, mark your calendars for the next Weekend in the Hills on May 10th and 11th, 2025, when we’ll be back with more courses and opportunities to connect with nature and creativity.

Tickets are already on sale and can be found here.
