What to expect from this workshop?
With Kate Hayes your tutor, you will learn about building a traditional style frame drum, beater and shaman rattle necklace using natural materials. The teaching will be hands-on, and each person will be supported to build their own drum etc.
The objective of this workshop is to assist and support you to assimilate the skills involved in making a traditional style frame drum which our ancestors used to connect with the unknown and the anima mundi.
These instruments morphically resonate with our primal past and assist us in making connection in the present.
Space will be made available to experiment with these ancient sounds during the workshop.
The materials used: - for the Drum - Steam bent 14x18 inch wooden hoop, goat or reindeer hide, leather and native wood for the handle. For the Beater - Hazel wood and Blue Texel sheep wool. For the Rattle Necklace – Hazel wood…
